Maryland Christmas Show continues this weekend at Frederick Fairgrounds

The Maryland Christmas Show is a local Frederick County event that has been held at the Frederick Fair grounds for 39 years.

The annual show is a two-weekend event. It opened last weekend and continues this weekend, Nov. 24-26 Hours for the event are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission fee is $10 for 11 and older and $4 for ages 10 and younger.

Tracy Ranghelli, 52, from Northern Virginia travels six hours each year to participate in the annual craft show. Ranghelli and her section, All Beaded Up,  a family business that makes individually beaded handcraft jewelry. She’s participated in the Christmas show for 15 years.

“This is a full-time job for my husband and I,” Ranghelli said.

She said it wouldn’t feel like the holidays without the show. She said it’s an important tradition to keep on for the last nearly 40 years and it’s humbling for those who make their crafts.

“I’m honored to be a part of it,” Ranghelli says.

Sandy Phillips, 75, from Forest, Virginia, has been a part of the show for 30 years. Phillips section of the show is . She makes sculptures of Santa’s and elves from 12 inches to life size.

She said she enjoys seeing the repeat customers she has each year. She has bonded with the owners and the community.

To her the show is like a family. “It’s like going home each year,” Phillips said.
