The holidays are here. It’s that time of year again to get the cocoa ready, the lights up, lists written, and get pictures taken with Santa.
Christmas in Frederick is one of my favorite times of the year. There are so many things to do out here during the holidays. If this is your first Christmas in Frederick or if you’re here visiting, your Christmas will be memorable
Here is a list of things you and your family can do in Frederick for the holidays.
Candlelight tours
Now through Saturday, Dec. 3, you and your family can explore Mother Seton School at Setone Shrine in Emmitsburg. In addition to learning about the school’s history and Mother Seton herself, visitors only have to pay $8 per adult and $6 per youth. Children under 6 years old are free. “Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley”
Are you interested in seeing a Christmas play? Maryland Ensemble Theatre in downtown Frederick is staging “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley” Dec. 1-23. The show runs 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The official show opening date is Friday, Dec.2. Tickets purchased for this date only, include a special opening night reception, which begins at 7:15 p.m. and is followed by the show at 8 p.m.. The play will make you feel like you’re in the holiday season. Tickets cost $32 adults, $30 for seniors 65 and older, and $15 for students. Go to https://marylandensemble.org.
“A Motown Christmas”
Are you interested in listening to some live Christmas music? Visit the Weinberg Center for The Arts in downtown Frederick on at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. Some of Motown Town’s legendary groups including The Miracles, The Contours, and Ali Woodson’s Temptations will be in town and headlining “A Motown Christmas.” Have a fun night with the family! Traditional Village Christmas at Catoctin Furnace
Are you interested in decorating a wreath with the family? Visit The Museum of The Ironworker at Catoctin Furnace in Thurmont 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Come out and enjoy a European-style holiday market. This is a free event for all. Visitors are encouraged to decorate a fresh wreath with bows, bells and pinecones. Hello Holidays 2022 Craft Show
Are you interested in arts and crafts with your family? The Hello Holidays Craft Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Frederick Fairgrounds. This year’s show is all handmade. There will be a large variety of vendors plus food trucks and entertainment. Parking and admission are free.
