FCC CougarMart Helps Students In Need

Frederick Community College’s CougarMart opened this year and is here to help students in need from food to clothing and hygiene projects. 

The CougarMart officially opened its doors in the Student Center Feb. 14. And are open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Monday through Friday. Students show their ID to get the necessities.

Edison Ng of Germantown, who is a Student Support Navigator here at Frederick Community College. Said the CougarMart was “made for students to have accessibility to things they need.”

He said the items at the CougarMart are “free to students, and you can use it once a month and get 10 food products, 6 hygiene products, and one clothing item.”  

Director of Student Wellness Sergio Washington said Benita Rashaw wanted to create this so student can get basic needs.

He said “the CougarMart is here to support them by providing access to nutritious food options and basic necessities at no cost. We aim to ensure that every student can focus on their studies without worrying about food insecurity. We also offer a variety of hygiene products and a clothing closet that includes professional attire for interviews.”
