During the winter months, it is normal to want to stay out of the cold. However, Frosty Friday by Downtown Frederick keeps you warm with the number of deals and discounts this Black Friday.
Downtown Frederick is hosting its annual Frosty Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov 24. The event features everything from live music, cocktail competitions, deals, and a fire pit to roast marshmallows as well as to keep warm from 4 to 9 p.m. Parking for community event free parking and admission.
Frosty Friday started in 2003, marking the 20th anniversary, according to Leeann Crews, Frosty Friday’s associate director of Downtown Partnerships and a resident herself.
Not all customers of Frosty Friday are from Downtown Frederick,
“You can find a spilt between locals and from a drivable distance.” Crews said.
Frosty Friday has something for all ages. As it is hard to count how many people usually come to this event, Crews said close to 13,000 people have shown up to this community event in the past years.
Frosty Friday allows shop owners to come together and enjoy the winter season.
“Over 250 independently owned businesses, shops, restaurants, wellness, all different types participate,” she said.
The event was created to bring shoppers to the downtown area.
Getting to the event early also has its benefits, an early bird bag giveaway at 9 a.m. as well as free goodies donated by the many shops for the first 100 people. Crews said the giveaways include coupons for hot ticket items.
“The bags go quickly,” said Crews.
That is not all either; more gifts can be found later. Snowflake Tree is at 11 a.m., when the first 100 people get gifts when they spend at least $100 from two or more shops and show their receipts. These prizes are again donated by local businesses.
“Last year gave away over 200 gifts, which is more than $20,000,” said Crew.
More activities are located all around downtown, such as a $5 cocktails, firepits on sidewalks to keep you warm while you shop, as well as the streets decorated with lights.
“Decorations are worth making the trip,” Crews said.
