Take a Spin on the Turntable at Frederick Record Riot Oct. 21

Music lovers who believe that music should only be listened to on vinyl, can find thousands of records to add to their collection this weekend in Frederick.

The Frederick Record Riot is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Frederick Fairgrounds. Entry fee is $5 or $15 for an early at 9 a.m. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

The Frederick Record Riot is an event where all vinyl record connoisseurs gather to rent tables and sell vintage vinyl and other record-related products and gadgets while patrons come to collect records of all sorts, from rare musical finds to mainstream hits.

Coordinator Steve Gritzan has run his own record store Iris Records, in New Jersey for 30 years, and for 15 years has run record shows for 15 years. However, he said, the Frederick Record Riot is only been around for five years.

As records have come back into style recently, Gritzan said it’s interesting to see all sorts of groups come together for the event as it’s a “nonpolitical, nonreligious, fun time for everybody.” and how it is a “chance for everyone to get together and share common music interests…it’s very welcoming and communal.”

He said  to think about the Frederick Record Riot as just “a giant record store lands in Frederick with 10,000 records in one room” as it is “like a flea market but with records.”  For enthusiasts and big collectors,  Gritzan said there will be dealers from places such as Washington D.C. and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in one room selling their wares.

At the Frederick Record Riot, you’ll find a wide array of vinyl records up for grabs. From classic sensations to rare gems, there’s something for everyone’s musical taste. Visitors have the opportunity to discover new artists or expand their collections.
