By Lauren Kaniecki

On April 4th, 2025, the long-awaited ‘A Minecraft Movie’ was released for all the fans to see. The graphics, editing, acting, and everything about this movie does not disappoint.

This movie features some well-known celebrities including Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge, which can already tell viewers that this movie is going to be very interesting but hilarious.

Before it was even released, the movie was already a hit when fans started turning lines into memes which gained lots of attention. There are a lot of parts of the movie that fans turned into a meme, but the popular lines include “chicken jockey” and “flint and steel.” The countless TikToks and videos that circulated on social media just made the movie release more exciting for Minecraft fans.

They did an excellent job with the accuracy of the actual game and the overall concept of the “Overworld.” It just shows that the director of the movie, Jared Hess, and the people who wrote this movie are fans themselves of the iconic game. In addition, the graphics are mind-blowing. It really gives that fantasy, but also a realistic feel.

The overall storyline made it so that die-hard fans and people who have never played the game can understand what the movie is about. A movie critic on Rotten Tomatoes, Alex Maidy, had something to say for parents who are planning on watching this movie with their kids, “Parents will find themselves having more fun than expected with this movie, while kids and Minecraft fans will be pleased to see their favorite game leap onto the big screen.”

Some popular YouTubers were featured in the movie including DanTDM, LDShadowLady, Mumbo Jumbo, and Aphmau. A touching moment was the tribute to one of the biggest Minecraft Youtubers, Technoblade who passed away in 2022 due to cancer. This scene showed a pig with a crown, Technoblade’s avatar, walking in Steve’s village. Henry, one of the characters, asked if the pig was some kind of king, Steve replied with, “No. That’s a legend.” This tribute displays the respect the directors have for fans who watched Technoblade.

This movie will be the least bit disappointing to watch, for Minecraft fans as well as people who have never even heard of the game. The directors and writers truly put a lot of love and effort into this movie.
