“LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD”: FCC’s Student Government Association Meeting

By Lucas Pollara

On March 25, 2025, the Student Government Association (SGA) of Frederick Community College (FCC) held its bimonthly public meeting for any interested students to come, listen, and observe.

Multiple clubs, including the Veterans’ Club and the STEM Club, came together to discuss their next meeting dates, financial budgeting, and ways on how to promote their agendas to the school.

The main agenda for this meeting was reviewing the clubs’ budgets and updating them for the clubs’ leadership and the SGA. They also discussed some of the events that were happening around campus such as the upcoming spring break, an email concerning emergency phones and its survey, and new proposed dates for the club events.

Nathaniel Wachter, the SGA president, said that the goal of the SGA is to “represent the people [at FCC], help clubs with funding [their events and programs] and hosting them, find the needed space, and much more.”

“The SGA wants people who are willing to serve, listen to people, and [hear] what the students want to happen [at FCC] and try to make that possible,” Wachter continued. “Feedback is super important. It is an opportunity for students to give their opinion and a way for their desires to be made possible.”

This supports the motto found on the SGA’s flyers: “Let your voices be heard.”

A good example of that happened during the meeting. Any non-club members were grouped together at a table and two questions were asked: “What is your favorite part or memory of FCC?” and “What is one thing that you don’t like about FCC?” Their answers provided great feedback for the SGA and the clubs while showing their willingness to listen and change.

As an added bonus, snacks and drinks were provided for all participants attending the meeting.

Their next meeting available to the public is on April 15, 2025 in the Student Center, room H202.
