Feeling Hungry? Here are Some Best of Frederick Places to Eat

Sometimes, we get a bit hungry. Hungry enough we just want to go out and get something made for us or just order instead of cooking. But then you’re stuck with the greatest question humankind has ever been faced with; What do I want?

And so I took it upon myself to go out and ask students at Frederick Community College and some locals about this very question, seeing what some of their favorite spots to eat are and what their favorite food to get is.

I first talked with Johnny Tores, a 19-year-old mechanical engineer from Puerto Rico. He enjoys Papa John’s if he’s in the mood for some pizza, McDonald’s, surprisingly for burgers, and Lucky Corner, found on 5100 Buckeystown Pike Suite 174, when he is looking for some Asian cuisine. His favorite place to go though is Cafe Rio.

He said “I like the food, the authenticity” when asked why, and said his favorite thing to get was simply the burrito. I couldn’t agree more with enjoying restaurants that feel truly authentic to the cuisine it has.

Keith McCombie, a 19-year-old psychology major from Jefferson, said his favorite place to eat was Waffle House.

“I like waffles, amazing waffles, I’m a waffle guy”, and not so shockingly his favorite thing to get there was … waffles. He also mentioned how he enjoyed Dominos and Burger King, but said he didn’t like Chinese food.

“I feel like it’s just that everything has a bad aftertaste.” he said of Chinese food.

Gabby Santienor, a 20-year-old arts and education major born and raised here in Frederick, told me she loved Lucky Corner. “Pho is my favorite”, which she funnily thought was spelled and said “Fas”.

She added how she also loves Coal Fire Pizza which can be found at 7820 Wormans Mill Rd, Pizza & Pretzel, found in downtown Frederick at 210 N Market St, as well as Maxwells Burger and Shakes at 57 E Patrick St.. She lastly mentioned how she doesn’t really get Chinese, but if she were it would be Panda Express surprisingly.

It’s good to see such a variety in cuisine, from simple breakfasts like Wafflehouse to the more authentic dining of Cafe Rio. I personally have to suggest Fifty-Fifty, located at 526 N Market St, if you’re looking for an amazing burger. Or give Cugino Forno at 1705 N Market St Suite 100 just next to Thomas Johnson High School, a try if it’s an amazing stone oven-made pizza you’re after.

Frederick has it all, with plenty of variety for everyone to have something they might love.
