MIDDLETOWN, Maryland — The holiday season is always filled with tasty desserts, family traditions, happy music and fun decorations. But for those who celebrate Christmas, there’s one more element that can’t be ignored. The Christmas tree. For many Frederick locals, a trip to Dreamland Christmas Tree Farm in Middletown has become an important part of their annual holiday season experience.
The farm is run by owner Brian Riesett and his family. 2023 marks the 10th year the family has sold trees to the public. Each year, the store opens the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Last year, Riesett and his team grew over 4,500 trees. Planting thousands of trees a year is undoubtedly a long process that requires lots of planning and preparation. The fields are cut regularly during the summer, and the trees are sheared. Throughout the year, Riesett said, “We’re always spraying and scouting the field for weeds and pests. We also fertilize twice a year.”
However, the trees aren’t the only special feature of Dreamland. One of the farm’s staples is its antique barn that’s been converted into a shop with a cozy fireplace. According to the business website, Riesett and his team offer cocoa, apple cider, and an assortment of wreaths and ornaments inside.
Riesett said he is very proud of his team’s effort to ensure great customer experience each year.
“Our customers often say that they feel like they are walking into a hallmark movie which Is what we love to hear,” Riesett said. “We love to see happy people making Christmas memories.”
Dreamland Christmas Tree Farm is at 2700 Sumatown Road in Middletown. The farm is open Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit dreamlandchristmastreefarm.com.
