By Aaron Perone/TheCommuter

As a student, keeping up with schoolwork can be daunting. With so many assignments, papers, and exams to prepare for, it can be difficult to stay on top of everything. However, with a little organization and discipline, staying on track and making the most of your time at Frederick Community College is possible.

Here are some simple tips to help you keep on track.

Create a schedule
One of the most important things you can do to keep up with your schoolwork is to create a schedule. This will help you prioritize your tasks and ensure you are using your time effectively. Start by listing your classes, assignments, and exams in a planner or digital calendar, and making sure to include due dates and any other important information, such as exam times and locations on. Once you have everything listed, you can allocate your time and create a schedule that works for you.

Prioritize tasks
Once you have a schedule in place, it’s important to prioritize your tasks. Start by identifying which assignments and exams are the most important or have the earliest deadlines. Focus on these tasks first and then move on to the less urgent ones. This will help you avoid last-minute cramming and ensure you are fully prepared for all your assignments and exams.

Take advantage of Campus Resources
FCC offers a variety of resources to help students succeed. Take advantage of these resources to stay on top of your schoolwork. For example, the Learning Commons provides tutoring services and study groups to help you with your coursework. The Career Services Center can help you with job searches and career planning. The Writing Center can help you with writing assignments and papers. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it.

Eliminate distractions
Distractions can be a major obstacle to staying on top of your schoolwork. When studying or working on assignments, try to eliminate as many distractions as possible. Turn off your phone or put it on silent, close any unnecessary browser tabs or apps, and find a quiet place to work. This will help you to stay focused and be more productive.

Take Breaks
While staying focused and productive is important, it’s also important to take breaks. Taking regular breaks can help you to stay refreshed and avoid burnout. Take short breaks every hour or so, and use this time to stretch, take a walk, or do something else you enjoy. This will help you to stay motivated and focused throughout the day.

Keeping up with schoolwork can be challenging, but with the right strategies, achieving academic success is possible. By creating a schedule, prioritizing your tasks, taking advantage of campus resources, eliminating distractions, and taking breaks, you can stay on top of your school work and make the most of your time in college.
