10 reasons why we adore Adele

It’s been almost six years since Adele dropped her last album, “25,” and with the news of a new album, “30,” being released Nov. 19, we wanted to review why we love and idolize the British singer so much.

Why do we adore Adele?

10.  She’s humble.

Even though she is one of the most successful female singers of all time, Adele does not let her success go to her head. She is aware that fame comes and goes and believes in making the most of it while she can.

She said, “I doubt I’ll be singing forever, because at some point people aren’t going to want to hear my music, and I hope that I’ll still get the opportunity to write songs.”

9. She’s relatable.

From her lyrics to her interviews, Adele always manages to be relatable to her fans.

She said, “I don’t write songs about a specific, elusive thing. I write about love, and everyone knows what it is like to have your heartbroken.”

Everyone who listens to Adele’s songs can understand where she is coming from and feel empathy with the singer. This is one of the many reasons that Adele has fans of all ages because her music is universally understood.

8. She’s honest.

Adele is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and has spoken her mind many times when accepting awards and giving interviews.

She is also not afraid to make fun of herself, often sharing embarrassing stories with her fans, increasing her relatability.

At one concert, when talking to her fans, she told a story about just how nervous she was before coming on stage, explaining how she often vomits before performances and telling them “I love you but you scare me.”

7. Her body positivity.

Adele has always encouraged her fans to have body confidence and has never let people’s comments about her weight affect her life or her work.

In a 2012 interview with “People” magazine, she said, “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”

6. Her admiration for other artists.

Adele never fails to praise her fellow singers and songwriters, as well as the power of music in general.

She has been very vocal about her love of the Spice Girls, saying she was obsessed with them and completely devastated when they broke up.

Another artist she has been very complimentary of is Beyonce. When accepting her Grammy award for album of the year in 2017, the singer was upset that she had beat Beyonce’s album “Lemonade.”

In her acceptance speech, she said, “I can’t possibly accept this award … the artist of my life is Beyonce and the ‘Lemonade’ album was just so monumental.”

Another major influence in Adele’s life was Amy Winehouse. The singer was devastated when Winehouse passed away in 2011. At a Boston concert in 2016, Adele said, “Because of her, I picked up a guitar, and because of her I write my own songs…I owe 90% of my career to her.”

5. Her surprising rapping skills.

During a session of “Carpool Karaoke”  with fellow Brit James Corden, Adele showed off her rapping skills by reciting the entire Nicki Minaj verse from the Kanye West song “Monster.”

This hilarious moment introduced us to another side of Adele and we love seeing her let loose and show off her love for different music genres.

4. Her accent and laugh.

Along with her amazing singing voice, when Adele talks we cannot help but be amused by her contrasting speaking voice. It seems so surprising to hear her come out of her angelic singing voice into that fast-paced North London accent.

Her laugh is another surprising contrast to her singing voice. Although we know she can belt out the high notes, it is still a surprise that her laugh is so loud, sudden, and infectious.

3. The emotion in her lyrics.

As mentioned briefly above, Adele’s songs are full of thought-provoking and relatable lyrics that are bursting with so much emotion.

In her newest song, “Easy on Me,” Adele addresses her divorce with the highly emotional lyrics:

“There ain’t no room for things to change/When we are both so deeply stick in our ways/ You can’t deny how hard I have tried/I changed who I was to put you both first/ But now I give up.”

Whether you have listened to her biggest songs or the more obscure ones, there is sure to be some lyrics that struck your heartstrings and made you feel the pain, loss, and love that she expresses so well through her words and music.

2. Her sense of humor.

There are too many moments to show off Adele’s sense of humor. She never fails to make her friends laugh, whether she is just talking during an interview or performance, or she’s taking part in a specific funny skit, she always brings a smile to our face.

From her undercover moment where she pretended to be an Adele tribute act alongside other hopefuls to her recent stint on “Saturday Night Live” where she intertwined her vocal and comedic talent to amuse the audience, Adele just seems to enjoy her life and bring laughter to the everyday.
