Frederick Community College men’s soccer coach John LaRocca announced Friday, Oct. 21 that players Maycol Nunez and Hein Aung have been released from the team.
While LaRocca declined to elaborate, he described both releases as an “internal team matter.”
“We aren’t going to share it outside of the team,” LaRocca said. “The team knows our core principals by now. That’s all I can say about it.”
Nunez, who was a first-team All-American for Washington-Lee High School (Va.), broke the FCC single-season scoring record on Oct. 5. The record stood since 1995. In 10 games, Nunez scored a team and state-high 22 regular season goals, and his 2.2 goals per game led the NJCAA across the nation.
Aung, meanwhile, graduated from Frederick High School this year and was a first-team all-area selection for The Frederick News-Post.
FCC went 13-3-1 in the regular season and split the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference title with CCBC Essex. After a first round bye, the Cougars will play Southern Maryland in the second round of the playoffs on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 4:00 pm at CCBC Dundalk.
